The challenge:
Inefficient manual data collection and reporting made Measuremen’s operations time-consuming, error-prone, and difficult to scale.

The solution:
Sisense empowered Measuremen to automate reporting, enhance data quality, and equip clients with real-time, interactive workplace analytics dashboards.

The impact:
Sisense transformed Measuremen’s analytics process, dramatically improving speed, efficiency, and data quality.

  • Report delivery improved from two weeks to same-day.
  • Manual reporting time dropped from 16 hours per project to just 30 minutes.
  • Staffing needs for reporting and data processing decreased from five full-time team members to two part-time roles.
  • Sisense ElastiCube automatically flags anomalies in real time, reducing manual data checks.
  • Data refreshes every 15 minutes, ensuring near-live quality checks.

For nearly two decades, Netherlands-based Measuremen has helped companies amplify performance by optimizing their physical space. The linchpin: robust analytics. Measuremen gathers comprehensive workplace data through observation studies, sensor-based occupancy data, and employee surveys. The resulting analysis and insights allow facility managers, architects, and consultants to make data-driven decisions about office design and efficiency.

As Measuremen’s success grew, so did its challenges. “Our goal is to make our analytics platform so essential that our clients rely on it daily,” says product manager Natacha Willhalm. “We want our customers to stay with us not just for the workplace data we collect, but for the powerful insights we provide.”

Measuremen had powerful methodology—it needed modernized reporting and data management to match.

The struggle: Laboring under slow, manual processes

Before Sisense, Measuremen’s analytics process relied on time-consuming manual processes. Observers physically recorded occupancy data and transferred it into Excel spreadsheets. Reports were built by hand and exported as static PDFs—a process that took a team of people up to two weeks to complete per project.

The inefficiencies caused challenges for Measuremen’s operations and their clients:

  • Slow turnaround times: Reports required 16+ hours of manual work per project.
  • Human error: Observers sometimes made mistakes, requiring additional quality checks.
  • Disorganized data: Clients received multiple PDFs per year, making it hard to track trends over time.
  • Limited insights: Static reports meant clients couldn’t filter or interact with their data dynamically.

Measuremen needed a more scalable, automated solution—one that would save time, improve accuracy, and deliver a better client experience.

The crossroads: Evaluating the right embedded analytics path

When Measuremen acquired a sensor technology company in 2021, it inherited its existing Power BI reporting system. At the same time, their Sisense contract was nearing renewal—prompting a critical choice: continue with Sisense, switch to Power BI, or explore something else entirely.

It didn’t take long for them to make a decision.

“There were only benefits to using Sisense,” says Willhalm. “Power BI felt old-fashioned, and it didn’t give us the level of customization we needed. With Sisense, we could fully control the look and feel, tailor dashboards to our customers, and create a more seamless experience.”

Beyond aesthetics, Measuremen found Sisense more flexible, easier to customize, and better suited for their clients’ needs. Rather than juggling two analytics platforms, the team streamlined everything into Sisense—allowing them to focus on delivering a single, scalable analytics experience.

The success: Revolutionizing analytics with Sisense

By integrating Sisense, Measuremen completely transformed its analytics process—automating reports, improving data quality, and delivering insights faster than ever.

From two-week turnaround to same-day reporting

Measuremen can now generate insights instantly—eliminating the burden of manual report creation and delivering rapid client value.

“Before Sisense, reporting took two weeks. Now, it’s same-day delivery,” says Willhalm. “What used to take 16 hours of work is now done in just 30 minutes.”

Goodbye human error; hello automated data validation

With Sisense Elasticube technology, Measuremen set up automated quality checks that instantly flag data anomalies—like an impossible occupancy count or a GPS mismatch indicating a person isn’t on-site.

“Instead of manually scanning reports for errors, Sisense does it for us. If something looks off, we get an alert right away,” Willhalm explains. “This means better data, fewer mistakes, and more trust in our insights.”

Comprehensive, interactive insights in real time

Measuremen replaced static PDFs with fully interactive dashboards powered by Sisense. Now clients can:

  • Filter data by day, time, and location
  • Compare multiple workplace metrics dynamically
  • Access historical and real-time data in one place

“Clients no longer have to dig through old PDFs in their emails. Everything is centralized, always up to date, and fully interactive,” says Willhalm.

Efficiency unlocked: better results, fewer resources

Before Sisense, a team of 5 people was needed to create reports. With Sisense, Measuremen’s entire analytics platform is now managed by two part-time employees, a significant efficiency gain. “Before, we had five people working full-time on reporting. Now, we have two part-time employees,” Willhalm says.

Rather than spending time on manual reporting, one part-time BI specialist and one part-time data engineer now focus on maintaining the platform, improving the data warehouse, and integrating new solutions and sensor types for clients.

Scalable customization = client satisfaction

When clients have unique needs, Measuremen can now deliver at scale. Custom analytics, like tracking parking space utilization, and employee scheduling trends, once took tremendous resources. And particularly complex customization was simply impossible.

Custom dashboards with Sisense give Measuremen’s clients faster, smarter workplace decisions. Willhalm says, “The power of Sisense lies in how easy it is to customize it to our needs. We’ve tailored it to high-quality data checks, diverse client use cases, and scalable analytics—all in one central place.”

The future: Leveling up with AI and predictive analytics

Measuremen isn’t stopping here. The company is already planning new ways to enhance its analytics with Sisense, including:

  • AI-powered chatbots to guide end-users through dashboards
  • Predictive analytics to forecast occupancy trends and space utilization
  • Integration with HR and facility management data to create a fully connected workplace intelligence platform

“We want to take our platform to the next level, making it even more essential for our clients,” says Willhalm. “With Sisense, we know we can keep pushing the boundaries of workplace analytics.”
