We’re excited to share a summary of Sisense product updates since April 2024—innovative features that can help you achieve your analytics goals faster than ever. We aim to motivate product teams and developers to develop impactful analytics experiences that not only satisfy end-users but also propel businesses ahead.

This article will fill you in on the newest Sisense features, specifically crafted to accelerate your embedded analytics journey and simplify your product development process.

Compose SDK: Enhancements, a beta, and a hackathon

Compose SDK updates

We’re thrilled to share the latest updates to the Compose SDK, with new versions released every two weeks. These updates bring more powerful tools and flexibility to developers, enabling them to create richer, more dynamic analytics experiences.

Here’s what’s new in versions 1.10.1, 1.11.0, and 1.12.0:

Vue package now GA. The Vue package is now generally available, including AreamapChart, ScattermapChart, and BoxplotChart components.

New AreaRangeChart React component (beta). We’ve introduced the beta version of the AreaRangeChart component for React.

Drilldown guide. Great news for devs: We’ve added a new Drilldown guide to the documentation.

Also, a reminder that the free 30-day trial for Compose SDK is still in full swing. The trial is a great way to experience the power of Compose SDK without having to have it in a Fusion Embed instance.

Introducing Conversational Analytics (beta)

Want to help users ask the right questions? The top analytics use cases for GenAI include recommending starting points for data exploration, augmenting analytics, querying data conversationally, and achieving narrative answers.

Our Conversational Analytics beta is now open, allowing our customers to deliver conversational analytics using large language models. By integrating our Analytics Chatbot and GenAI components, users can explore the data and self-serve insights using natural language.

The chatbot allows users to explore data through a conversational chat interface. It opens up new avenues of exploration and explanations of charts and graphs, helping them gain a quick understanding of the insights.

Key capabilities include Analytics Assistant, Query Recommendations, and NLG insights. These capabilities are available through the Compose SDK as visual components and hooks for creating conversational analytics experiences embedded in applications.

Compose SDK Hackathon recap

The inaugural Compose SDK hackathon was a great success, with developers using Compose SDK to create unique analytics experiences. Using React, Angular, or Vue.js, participants were challenged to “enhance an existing app or develop a new front-end solution leveraging the capabilities of Compose SDK.” First place went to Team Measuremen and 2nd place winner was CareInsights.

Sisense for Mobile v3.0: Key updates

We’re excited to announce the release of Sisense for Mobile v3.0! This major update revamps the mobile app, bringing several new native functionalities to enhance user experience.

Benefits of Mobile v3.0 updates:

  1. Effortless navigation: Navigate through the app with intuitive swipe gestures, streamlining the user data exploration process.
  2. Enhanced security: Securely access the app using fingerprint and FaceID authentication.
  3. Streamlined widget interaction: Interact with widgets directly from the main list view. Perform actions like Jump to Dashboard without needing to open each widget individually.
  4. Optimized widget viewing: Blox and Table widgets now automatically resize to fit a mobile screen, ensuring a seamless user experience.

The goal of these updates is to make accessing and analyzing data on the go more efficient and user-friendly, empowering users to make data-driven decisions anytime, and in the context of their current workflows.

Exploration Paths suggestions

Exploration Paths suggestions are now generated from all dashboards with the ‘Exploration Path’ feature enabled, provided they are based on the same data model as dashboards.

Recap on Exploration Paths

This feature automatically generates visualizations and insights that anticipate users’ questions, eliminating the need for a dashboard designer to create additional widgets. Exploration Paths leverages AI to uncover hidden patterns within data models. It then suggests new visualizations that complement the existing dashboard.

Benefits of the Exploration Paths update

  1. Streamlined dashboard design: Focus on creating focused dashboards with key elements. Exploration Paths will intelligently generate additional widgets to facilitate deeper exploration for users.
  2. Empowered users: Users can delve deeper into data with AI-powered suggestions, uncovering insights they might not have otherwise considered.

Security bearer tokens

To maintain high-security standards, setting an expiration date is now mandatory for the Bearer Authentication feature. After upgrading to version L2024.1 or later, all tokens currently in use without an expiration date will expire immediately.

Benefits of security bearer tokens:

  1. This change enhances security by ensuring that tokens are regularly renewed, reducing the risk of unauthorized access from expired or compromised tokens.
  2. After upgrading, custom integrations with apps (such as embedding) that use tokens without an expiration date will no longer function. One of two actions must be taken: renew existing tokens or create new tokens.

For more details, see Security Bearer Tokens.

Single Sign On (SSO)

The ability to configure the list of allowed target URLs is now available out-of-the-box for new deployments.

What are Allowed Target URLs?

This new feature grants administrators greater control over secure SSO configurations. It ensures that only authorized domains are used for redirection during the SSO flow.

Administrators can simply specify the whitelisted domains for a redirect that can be passed in the query string parameters during the SSO flow (such as “return_to”) by adding them to the ‘Allowed Target URLs’ field located in Admin > Security Settings.

Benefits of Allowed Target URLs:

Enhanced security. Prevents unauthorized redirects, safeguarding users from potential security risks.

Simplified management. Effortlessly manage SSO configurations by specifying trusted domains for redirection within the ‘Allowed Target URLs’ field located in Admin > Security Settings.

Streamlined setup. Expedites the SSO setup process, reducing administrative burden.
