The Dashboard Access Control add-on is an advanced dashboard sharing tool.

Using the Dashboard Access Control you can:

  • Request access to dashboards that are not shared with them, based on the add-on and dashboard configurations
  • Get email notifications for relevant access request updates
  • Manage access requests: approve or reject a request, comment on a request
  • Rebrand emails

Dashboard owners and Administrators can allow or prevent users from requesting access to dashboards from the dashboard menu:

Dashboards that are allowed for access requests are displayed on the dashboard menu with a “lock” icon.

Users can request access to dashboards that have not been shared with them.

Users and access request approvers can manage requests from the “Manage Dashboard Access” windows.

Dashboard Access Control is installed as a Sisense add-on. When you install Dashboard Access Control, the following components are added:

Add-ons Client Side

  • Dashboard Access Control: This add-on generates all of the UI components displayed in Sisense, including the menu dashboard items and the access request management modal

Add-ons Server Side

Dashboard Access Control Interceptor: Returns the dashboard list for the logged-in user. The list will contain the shared dashboards as well as unshared dashboards, based on the configuration of Dashboard Access Control.

Important:

  • A large number of dashboards in the system can result in a menu loading delay.
  • Dashboard links attached to emails are generated using the Alias configuration.
