Organizations of all kinds increasingly acknowledge that data and analytics play an important part in their growth and success. According to a 2021 survey of big data and AI executives by strategic advisors NewVantage, 92% of organizations are continuing to increase investment toward being a data-driven organization. They know it’s important because when we use data, our businesses perform better. McKinsey Global Institute concludes that companies are 23 times more likely to get new customers, six times more likely to retain existing customers, and 19 times more likely to be profitable when they use insights.
But presently, a significant proportion of organizations are neither making the most of their data nor fully leveraging the power of their analytics. In a report by Harvard Business Review Analytic Services (HBR), less than a quarter (24%) of total respondents rated their organization’s effectiveness in using analyzed data above 7/10. That’s a concerning finding, considering how important they acknowledge it is and how effective it can be.
